Thumbs up Pembroke Tabernacle United Reformed

I am really hoping that someone may be able to help me confirm that my Grand Parents [ George EDWARDS and Annie Maria HOPLA ] were indeed married at Pembroke Tabernacle United Reformed on January 21, 1890. I did have this information, but due to a computer crash last year, the information appears to be missing. Can anyone help please ?

There was certainly a marriage of a George Edwards to Annie Hopla jan qrt. 1890 but it says Neath Glamorgan, 11a,832. In 1911 they were living at 8 Kings Bridge Pembrokeshire with Elsie , Albert and William. Are these the right ones?
I'll have a look of fam search to see if there is more info there.

    Thank you Lola5,

So there was a marriage between 'a' George Edwards and 'a' Annie Hopla, in the January qrt. of 1890. But I though my family was the Pembroke area, so I am a little concerned that it says that it took place at Neath Glamorgan, 11a, 832. As I said in my original request, I have lost part of the data concerning this marriage. Well :-( now it appears that I have lost all the Census details for my Grand Parents [ George Edwards and Annie Maria Hopla ]. So I cannot confirm if this is their marriage or not :-(
What I can confirm is the details you have supplied for the 1911 census appear to be right, as they probably were living at 8 Kings Bridge Pembroke, with their daughter Elsie Margaret (1900), son Albert Edward (January 1, 1901) and son William George (1908). So Yes, I would say these are the right ones?

Default George Edwards and Annie Maria Hopla

    Lola5,

I can only thank you very much for the excellent work you carried out on my behalf, to recover most of the information I lost last year :-)

I must also say thank you for showing my ignorance on a few points.....
    (1) I thought George and Annie had married in Pembroke at Pembroke Tabernacle
United Reformed ( this was where most of the Hopla family went, I believe )
    (2) I never realised my grand parents had, had 17 children, sad that 12 died.
    (3) I have heeded your warning "Be aware that there were two Annie Maria Hopla's
born 1871/2" although I do not know where the second Annie Maria Hopla's
    is from,
and wonder if it could be a transpose error !

Once again, thank you very much :-)

You're welcome. Anything else you need just ask.
I will see if I can find deaths for those babies. I will also put the other Annie Hopla and parents on here so you can decide which is yours.
Also ...I hate to say this.... but the marriage cert, which certainly seems like your George and Annie's, may well be worth getting because that will prove whether Isaac is Annie's father and it will give you definite place of marriage

The other Anne Hopla(Annie) was born in Pembroke.1869 her parents were Thomas Hopla and Mary(all family on 1881 census). This Annie married a Benjamin Rudd in Glamorgan in 1893, and was a widow, aged 31, living with her sister Mary and family in 1901.
This Annie Hopla's father, Thomas, was the son of William Hopla and Mary. Baptised St mary pembroke 19th Apl. 1845, parents Willm and mary. Thomas is on 1851 census aged 5.
Somehow the two Annie hoplas are realted.

There are only the two marriages of Annie Hoplas so t he other must be yours.

Whilst searching, found a tree on A*************with your Annie Maria Hopla on it. The birthplace /dates etc all match with what I had found so Isaac and Eliza are def parents of your Anna Maria.
The tree gives Isaac as marrying Elizabeth Nicholas(1835-1908) and Isaac's parents are George Hopla and Martha Childs. etc(but I will check this out).
This tree has 9 Edwards children on it so obviously they have not found the other babies.

I have been checking. Isaac Hopla is on 1841 in Llantandwell? He's aged 6 with father George, Mother mary and and older sister Mary 12. In 1851 he is 16 and a farm servant with Beynon family. Ho107/ 2476/638/19
In 1861 he is married to Eliza . Both are 26. Children joseph 3 and Mary Jane 5mths. RG9/4154/25/34
    1871 Pembroke St. michael. RG10/5514/50/27
    Isaac Hopla 36,
    Eliza 36
    Joseph 13
    Mary Jane 10

    Alfred 2
    Henry9mths
    Martha Hopla 72 Mother wid.

    You asked for Neath 1891.
No Annie Hopla in Neath in 1891 but there was an Annie Hopla, a servant, aged 20, living in home of Walter Williams in Glamorgan Canton.
This Annie gives birthplace as Scotland? Now we know she cannot be your Annie as yours was already married to George and had a baby and they were living in Pembroke. In 1881 yours was at home with parents.

Why she should have married in Neath is beyond understanding as it is nearly two hours journeying from Pembroke today so what it would be then is anyone's guess. And why would they marry there and not at home? BUT the only way to know for sure is to get the cert.
