Thread: Orchards,Archers,Archards oxfordshire

Hi there im trying to find more info if poss on my ggg grandparents who were James and Hannah orchard their daughter baptised 1810 fifield by Witney was my gg grandmother her sister Ann was also baptised there in 1814 after that the family left fifield another daughter we think called Harriett was then born in burford around 1814 15,my gg gran was baptised Sarah Archard but used the surname Archer on her marriage cert,the family also used the surname Archell and also Archett just to confuse things a bit more! ,Harriett travelled oxfordshire before settling in Wallingford we think there may of been a brother called George and another sister called Mary as well ,the 1850 census has them staying in Hamel? oxfordshire James is discribed as a basket maker not born in county same as Hannah although it says Mary was born in county.Any info on them or the children would be really appreciated.Many thanks Dunc

Have you tried the Romany & Travellers Family History Society www.rtfhs.org.uk? I belong (not related to your family though) and I know they have people interested in Orchards etc.
