Hi Kerri,
Looking for any information on:
Mabel Barbara JEFFRIES, died in VIC, immigrated from South Africa about 1948 in VIC,MELBOURNE
Don't know if under Jeffries or Jones
(She married BEF __ ___ 1921 in STH.AFRICA,Cape Town, Longston Arthur JONES, died Bef __ ___ 1948)
She married? Cir __ ___ 1950 in VIC, Husband LESAR ?
Conformation on any of this would be great and any other information.
AND
Son of Mabel
Stanley Malcolm JONES, died __ ___ 1994 in VIC ?, immigrated South Africa? 1966 to VIC,MELBOURNE
I don't know if he was married on arrival or if he married at all.
Other son I know of was Gordon Andrew Jones born about 1921 in South Africa, Immigrated ? Married 23 Dec 1944 in SYDNEY,NSW to
Ethel Florence WIBLIN.
Gordon's marriage certificate lists:- occ: Seaman; usual residence: Moore Park, Sydney; birthplace: Cape Town, Sth Africa; age: 23;

Looks like Gordon was first to arrive in Australia Where I don't know or when.

Hi Colleen

Kerri has asked me to reply to your post as she is having difficulty logging in to this site.

I have looked for this family on her behalf as requested, but this is all a bit recent and there are restrictions due to the Privacy Act. Maybe Kerri can have a go once she gets back online...!

Cheers
Cherilyn

hi Kerri
Is there any chance you can help throw some light on this mystery relative, please.
Joseph KEY, age 20
left London 1925 to Melbourne
I don't know if he was fare paying passenger or worked his passage,
or if he stayed or returned. Any records of returning Brits.
Family story is..... he left London in a hurry, and that he married a sheep farmers daughter, and was rumoured to be seen back in London several years later, if he did return, he didn't get in contact with brothers and sister.
Sorry its a bit vague but thats all the info I have.
Many thanks in anticipation Dave

Hi Kelli,

I wonder if you could see if there is any other trace of Harold John Golding. He was born 8 Oct 1901 at Winton near Bournemouth (then in Hampshire now in Dorset), in the UK, the base born son of Augusta Emily Golding, and bapt 30 Apr 1902.

On 7 Nov 1922 he sailed on the “Hobsons Bay” for Australia (unassisted passage I believe) arriving in Melbourne 14 Dec 1922.

Harold was one of a number of young farm hands, mostly in their teens. Harold was listed on arrival documentation as aged 18 years although he was actually aged 21.

I have tried to track him down with no success - another of those "needles'!

Thanks in advance,

Marion
