Hi, can you please help me to find the birth date of Theresa Ibbotson born in Sheffield about 1849. Her parents were Henry Ibbotson and Hannah Hardy and they were living at Bolton's Yard, Steelhouse Lane in 1851.

Hi Calmar

I notice from the SFHS site that you have already searched the usual freebmd and ancestry gro with no luck.

It could well be that her birth wasn't registered, although registration began in 1837 it didnt become law till much later.

Have you got the marriage of her parents? or could there be a possibility that she was born out of wedlock and registered in her mothers name?

Hi Lozzie,

Her parents were married in 1845 Dec qtr in Sheffield.

There is the possibility of it not being registered as I am having trouble with the other children too of this family. Only got one daughter with definite certificate. But this is my great grandmother and would like to know her birth details for certain.

I wondered if she was Christened which might help towards the birth date.

Catherine Gregory born 1814 possibly died 1888, last known address, 22, Sheffield Rd., Rotherham.
Albert David Gregory, born 1841 possibly died 1906, last known address, 4, West Gate Green, Rotherham.
Ann Gregory born 1844, possibly died 1911. Last known address, 4, West Gate Green.

As the last known address was in Rotherham the records will more than likely be in Rotherham Archives. You could contact the Rotherham Family History society for help/advice.
