Hi Gillian
Could you please do a look up for a Joseph Knowles who married Ann Woodall 15.5.1791 Kingswinford/Old Swinford.
I have his parents but not hers.

Hi Janet - on my records the marriage is to Sarah Woodhall (not Ann as the IGI has). I'll see if I can find any way of checking it out. The only other information was the witnesses - Sarah Woodhall - Thomas Walker
Sorry - I can't find her baptism (either as Ann or Sarah) in Kingswinford - I think she must be from another parish

Hi Pipesmoker - Solomon isn't in the Kingswinford registers. I see from census information that he gives his birth as Quarry Bank b about 1830.
But I can't see 2 Solomon Littles on any census so I think the one you have found parents Sylvia & Joseph is probably right - the problem is proving it!

Thank you so much for that. The children were baptised at Old Swinford.
Wonder if it was an error in the Parish records, it would seem strange to have the bride and the witness with the same name dont you think.

I have just looked on the Old Swinford births and found Ann Woodall 3.4.1774 father Herbert mother Phebe. and there is also another Ann 27.5.1765 with the same parents !. There is a sister Sarah Woodall 3.1.1768. Herbert married Phebe Ganden 18.ASug.1760 OldSwinford.
Now I am confused.

Yes I agree - Ann seems more likely.
Maybe the first Ann died - parents often named another child after one who had died?

Think I will have to assume the first Ann died and that the second one married Joseph.
At least I have found her parents and their marriage, so it takes me back a little further.

This is one problem I have been struggling with for ages - only one Solomon on the census who fits (b 1830-31), but does not fit with info on his marriage certificate.

Keep looking, I guess

Well - mistakes are made on marriage certificates. Why not post on the Request Help board and see if anyone else has any ideas?

I am researching a Bradley family in the general area. Please would you keep your eyes open for any entries that concerned the family -Richard Bradley bc1775 lower Gornal and his wife Sarah Hide b c 1775 who were married in Kingswinford 08.05.1791. His parents may have been a John and Mary Bradley from the Sedgely area. I have details of their children already but would like to confirm the parents generation.

Hi Gillian

Could you please have a look for a birth of Susannah FLAMEN born 1817. Census records say Oldswinford, & Dudley, & Newtown. I have looked but cant find a birth in either Oldswinford or Dudley.
Am wondering if she could have been born in Kingswinford.

Also looking for her marriage possibly 1836/37 to a Mathew Tromans. (Trowmans ) her first child Obadiah was born in 1838.
