I have access to New South Wales BMDs from 1788 til 1975 and Victorian from 1836 to 1985. Give as much detail as possible and I will see what I can find.

Wondering if you could look up Arthur Robert Smith born Victoria, Australia, 1890.

Would like to get his parents' names and address. Arthur is my grandfather. Many thanks.

Helenstapo, I checked the BDMs and there is no Arthur Robert Smith born in 1890 though there is one born late (looking at reg #) 1889 in Fitzroy South, son of Henry Steele SMITH and Mary Isabella HASTINGS, Reg # 31110, this is most probably your grandfather. I could check for siblings and more info on parents if you'd like.

Louise Burgess (nee Matchett) born 1930 died about 1970 in Sydney NSW.

That is my grandfather (Arthur Robert Smith). I knew his mother's name but not the father and with a name as 'popular' as Smith I didn't know where to turn. I'd be absolutely rapt if you can give me any further info re Henry and Mary Isabella and siblings etc. I wait with baited breath.

Annie, there are two possibles - seeing as my database does not record maiden names (only parents' christian ones), there is: Louise Russell D. Burgess, died 1971, Sydney (Reg # 1115) daughter of William John & Jessie OR Louise Gai Burgess, died 1972, Cessnock (Sydney suburb) (Reg # 63339) dau of Gary Wayne & Cathy. These are the only Louise Burgess deaths between 1960-75, I am more inclined to think it is the first one judging by the time she was born (NSW don't show ages - much prefer working with Victoria ~ my state).

Hi Bazza, I'm going to ask another favour of you. Could you find out the names of the parents of William Donald born 1866 in Annan,Scotland and died 1953. Buried at Warrnambool cemetery? Do they have the names of parents on death certificates?
