Hi Nanna

Just found this site! Still "learning the ropes!"

Are you able to lookup "PALMER" in the Liverpool directories? There are a bunch of them. Fathers and sons. They were "Dancing Masters" from about 1760 to 1850. At one point they were at 52 Chatham Street, 9 King St. Soho.....

Thank you SO much!!

Hi Debbi,
I have checked 1911 & 1938 Liverpool Directories which are the most recent before and after the dates you have posted and found the following:

1911 Street Directory

92 Forth Street - John Griffin (Grocer)
42 Othello Street - Owen Thomas (Mariner)
------------------------------
1938 Street Directory
92 Forth Street - Joseph Miller (Hall Shopkeeper)
42 Othello Street - Mrs Annie O'Brien

The directories list the main householder only, I am unable to tell you who else was there.

Default Ancestor

Hi
I am trying to trace a possible ancestor of mine.
Name of Girvan - could be Hugh or Robert.
I have found a vague reference to a Robert Girvan who as a shipowner of a boat/collier called Ironsides as purchased by the Lamport & Holt Linebut am having trouble narrowing it down.

Does the name of Girvan appear in the Kelly or Gore's Directories?
Grateful any assistance
Brian

Default Cockburn's of liverpool

Pauline,

I'm looking for two Cockburn families living in the Liverpool area from about 1820-1850.
Could you please do a look-up in the Liverpool 1821, and 1843 directories for the following 2 brother's families:

Family 1
Cockburn, John Williams shoemaker. married Ann Clayton 1830 Liverpool had 4 children
William (1832); Mary (1834); Emanuel (1842) and Richard (1843).

Family 2
Cockburn, James

Both families emigrated to Canada about 1850.

Any information on either of these families would be greatly appreciated.

Ed R.

Hi Nanna,

Would you please look up the 1821 Gores for me and see if my gt-gt-g-father is listed? I can find him in the 1832 Poll Book but nowhere else. His name is Peter Mooney and he was a boat builder living somewhere in Linacre Marsh. That is all I know. Thanks Frankwil
