Just wanted to say Wak that I went off looking for your chap then got distracted at finding someone had my folk on their tree with which there are no links at all so i had to stop and leave them a message that MY people are not their people and that they had got things wrong! Then that led me to other things..... and so your Edgar Sheppard(who is nothing to do with my Sheppards) slipped my mind..... but I will now go back and look for him!

Hi Lola5, Congratulations on finding Edgar and taking me through his professional career and private life. I understand
that a quality oil portrait of his father hangs in a Worcester medical centre where they have not found out who painted it! I wondered if any of the ancestors were still around in Worcester whereupon I could return this sweet item of Edgar
aged three in order that it will find its spiritual home. WAKAGRATEFUL to your undoubted skills
Hi Wak,
That sounds a lovely idea and I'm sure any one of the present day family would welcome it. We'll have to trace the children of Edgar and Margaret and see what anyone comes up with.
Hi Lola, Thanks for assisting and I hope your quest is fruitful and I will deliver Edgar if the right destination is found.
Not moving very fast on this one though info is all there,
Edgar the physician married for second time and he becomes physician in the lunatic asylum at Friern Barnet. He outlives his second wife and retires to Bloomsbury
If you want census details I will put them on.
Edgar James his son is lodged with the Curate of Bisley and his sisters in Bisley Goucestershire in 1861. He is aged 15. (and Margaret is with her father visiting.)
EDgar goes into the church and in 1901 is Dean of the chapel Royal, aged 55 and living at 70 Oxford Terrace Paddington.
With him is his wife MARY aged 53, and a son HUGH K.L SHEPPARD aged 20.
and several servants

In 1911
Edgar 65 is clergyman of St james Palace
wife Mary 62
and various servants(6)
They have been married 37 yrs and have had 4 children, 3 living and one dead.

I think perhaps we need to trace Hugh and the other two.
I have a death for Margaret Edith Sheppard in 1871.... but not sure if it's the correct one.
Think that Hugh KL Sheppard is more likely to be Hugh R L(Richard Laurie) Sheppard born 1880 Windsor.
Also became a clergyman.
Is found returning from Canada on 23 Sept 1925. He is age 45, a clerk in Holy Orders. His wife is not with him.
Marriage of a Hugh Richard Laurie Sheppard to Alison L Carver at Congleton Cheshire in April Qr of June 1915.
Probate of Hugh Richard Laurie Sheppard. DD of 1 Amen Court , Paternoster Row London , clerk in Holy Orders died 31st Oct 1937
Probate 26 Nov to Alison Lennox Sheppard, widow and Ranulf Greenwood solicitor.
Effects £40, 384 18s and 6 d.
Resworn £80,412 1s and 1d.
So now we need to find the children of Hugh and Alison if any?

Right.
Edgar and wife MaryPeters sheppard had another son besides Hugh Richard Laurie and he was called Arthur Montague Sheppard/ born Oct 1879 Windsor but poor wee lad died Windsor 1882.
They are on 1881 census for Windsor.
Mary Peters Shepherd wife of assistant cannon(Edgar is away on Church/other busuiness.)
and the two childen Arthur Montague and Hugh RL Sheppard with usual domestic servants at 10 upper Cloister Windsor.
RG11/1323/6/5
I have followed Hugh and wife through electoral registers and they appear to have no children. But this needs confirming.
So we need to find those other two children of Edgar an mary Peters Sheppard.

Lola5 Well what an astonishing affluent medical religious journey you have examined to find little Edgar a home. As Edgar (in beautiful aged gilt frame looks down at me) on my study/computer room wall. I think you have the bit between
the teeth to take it to fruition. I can send you the image if there is an easy way. Grateful thanks and Best wishes
Wak
I don't know Wak,
I think I need help in finding those other two and am hoping one at least has heirs. Keep fingers crossed!
It is most interesting comparing my Sheppards who come from Suffolk originally with your Edgar's familiy. So different! Mine were farmers and ag labs and brass founders, the Army etc and not from the wealthier echelons such as "your " Edgar came from and yet one of their progency ends up at Selwyn Coll to do Divinity'Theology and is a Reverend for over 60 yrs!
It will be interesing also to see what professions Edgar's heirs have followed.
