Hi There,
I wonder if you could help me please. I,m asking on behalf of a friend whose ancestors came from or lived in Tasmania..
Firstly a marriage for Agnes Clarkson Orders to a William John Brennan..About early 1900s.
Their son was born about 1907 Tasmania..
Agnes was the daughter of ? ORDERS & Margaret CLARKSON who married in Qld in 1883
No birth has ever been found for Agnes but two of her siblings were born 1892-6, Strachan Tas. No much is known about the Brennans so would appreciate anything you can find on this family..Also the Orders..
Agnes Father may have been Joseph Herbert ORDERS ?
The area could be Zeehan?
Many thanks..
Marion...
Hi Marion - found a few records for this family. Firstly Agnes Clarkson ORDERS m William BRENNAN 12/12/1906 in Zeehan (# 1374). They had a son, John William BRENNAN, ON 29/01/1907 in Zeehan (# 3949), so obviously she was heavily pregnant at the time of marriage. I cannot find any records of birth for either Agnes or William on my Tasmanian discs. Joseph Herbert ORDERS and his wife Margaret (nee Clarkson) had 6 children in the Zeehan area (Joseph Herbert Jnr b1892, Elizabeth b1894, William b1896, John Clarkson b1897, Margaret b1900 and Barbara b1903). I have marriage records for some of these children, if you are interested. Maybe Joseph and Margaret married and had previous children (Agnes) born in Queensland before moving to Tasmania - Zeehan was a mining area, so that was probably what attracted the family to this remote part of Tasmania. Maybe the Brennans were originally from Queensland as well? Hope this is of some use to you .... regards, Vicki
Hello Vicki,
Many thanks for all your help. I will of course pass all your info on to my friend..Maybe the Brennan,s came from Queensland(Gympie).. Not sure on that one as nothing much is known about them.. Any additional info you can send through would be greatly appreciated such as marriages and so on. Are you able to find deaths as well for Joseph and Margaret Orders? I think the surname has Welsh origions and would like to know more about this family and where they came from..Many thanks once again..
Marion in a cold and rainy Sydney..
Joseph died 24/06/1915 in Zeehan; nothing for Margaret but records only go up to 1930. John Clarkson Orders m Esther Bailey 21/03/1925 Zeehan (#1501). Margaret m William Alfred Kemp 22/04/1925 Burnie (#139), Joseph Jnr m Elsie Green alias Colson 21/06/1919 Zeehan (# 1503). Vicki

Still trying to work this site out ... hope you get this OK. John Brennan married Anne "Phelan" (would have to be Whelan) on 25 May 1880, Franklin # 230 (both aged 22). They had one child that I can find, Ada Eveline b 31 July 1888 at Franlin # 1664. Can't find a birth record for Ann. There is one for a John Brennan which might fit - b. 25 Feb 1857 at Bothwell # 7. Father Michael, mother Mary Parla.
