Hi Finbar,
Just seen your post regarding Manchester Grammar Schools and wondered if you would'nt mind having a look if my grandad Herbert Hillier is on it. I don't know if he attended there but with him living in Manchester I just thought it might be a possibility. He was born in 1897 Hulme to Eleanor Hillier who was unmarried. He was adopted by the Boardman family who he lived with until he tragically died in 1924. He kept his birth name though.

Hi Wendymac.
I've checked the register, and unfortunately there is no trace. The names go straight from E. A. Hiller to S. T. Hilldrup, without any intervening names.

Thanks for your kind offer, I hope you are still able to provide look-ups from the register of Manchester Grammar School Old Boys and Masters. (I tried to PM you but the system tells me that you aren't accepting PMs?).
Could you please have a look and see if there are any members of the Atcherley family in the registers? I know that several Atcherley families lives in Manchester and its environs so I'm hoping that some may have attended the school and will appear in the registers.
