Thank you for this lookup offer Hazelnut.
Would there be any of the following folk in the records please? I would love to verify the data I have.
I am hoping that Gwinear and Gwithian are near Gwennap, or that they may be on your records.
Many thanks,

Hello Hazelnut
I am amazed to find your kind and willing offer but not wanting to trespass on your goodwill!
I have family from Gwennap (mainly Dowers) many of whom who came to Australia (I live in Sydney) in gold rush time.
There are two couples I have details for and both the reports of the records I have say their marriage certificates are marked with an X. What I wonder is did both people mark with an x or could it be the witnesses that are being referred to? Is this something you could check up on?
The couples are:
Henry Dowar born 10 July 1785 in Wendron, Cornwall, England, the son of a mining family. Henry was himself a miner, and a sailor, and he lived in Lanner, a tin and copper mining area south-east of Redruth. On the 29 July 1809 he married Mary Hocking (1784 - 1868). Their marriage certificate is signed with an X by ??.
Peter Dower, the son of Henry Dowar (1785-1848) and Mary Hocking (1784-1868) married Mary Trebilcock, daughter of then deceased parents Nicholas Trebilcock (1774 -1830), a miner of Trevarth, and Mary Nicholls ( - 1836), on the 2nd May, 1839 in the Parish church in Gwennap. Peter and Mary’s marriage certificate is witnessed by Edward Whitburn and John Dower, Peter’s brother, and signed with a cross (who by??).
Peter married his second wife, Elizabeth Clara (Sarah) Williams, daughter of John Williams and Elizabeth Young, on the 12th December 1842 in Gwennap. There is no mention of a X in the record I ahve so does this mean they signed themselves?
I would be so grateful for your help and if there is anyhting I can do in return please let me know.
Donna Gibbs (nee Dower)
Would be looking for any information regarding my 2x grt. grandfather Joseph Blamey and marriage to Elizabeth Dower, I believe from Crowan
born in 1816 I believe. I would be looking for her family line. (Parents) They married in 1837 in Gwenapp.
Not sure what information if any would be available.
Also, later they had 4 children and her husband has disappeared between the 1850's to 1870's. Not sure what happened to 2x grt. grandfather Joseph. Elizabeth is listed as being married, then she widowed in the 1870
census. Joseph (my grt. grandfather is one of their sons)
and believe he left Cornwall in late 1860's maybe 1870.
I know what happened to daughter Mary, and do not
know what happened to John, then I find Daniel in the 1870 census with his mother and she passes before the 1881 census and Daniel is also no more. Not sure what records may even be available for these questions
and what may have happened to them.
Any information or insight that can be shed is greatly appreciated. Also should say I am sorry this request is long but have not been able to get anywhere
Thanks for any insight you can shed on this and appreciate your offer of volunteering for this area.

Hi Jan
I don't think I can help. I looked up my records of Dowers in Cornwall but I can't find a Joseph Blamy. There are however lots of Blamey's listed. If I send you the file you could do a search for Blamey and see if any of them are relevant to you. Trouble is I don't know how to attach a file here. if you email me at gibbs.donna@gmail.com I'll attach the file there - it is very large though. Hope that is ok.
