    Default South Australia Look ups.....

I am happy to help with look ups for South Australia

    I have access to Birth/Deaths & Marriages from 1837

also ....South Australian Centenary Project Publications have recorded information on individuals such as date of arrival & county of origin, residence since arrival, occupations, spouse & children...the information in these records have been provided by family historians of listed individuals and therefore the information supplied varies from record to record.

    Regards

Hi I am looking for relatives of mine who had the surname Tucker, who were both born in London in the UK and who later went to Australia!

The names of the individuals who I am looking for are, are Walter John Tucker who was born on the 5th of November 1865 to John Worth Tucker and Isabella Jane Glassborrow, he left England and went firstly to Hobart departing the UK on the 26th of September 1900.

I also know that he married an Elizabeth?, and that they were both alive in 1945, however I dont know if they had any children?,

Walter's sister was Florence Kate Tucker who departed the UK on the 3rd of November 1916 for Sydney and was born on the 13th of August 1867! I do not know if she married and if so had any family, or whether she died as a single individual.

Any help that you can give to me whould be very much apprechiated, I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

    Yours faithfully,

    Christopher J H Hawkes, (Mr.)

    Hi Joanofacre,

I'd like to take you up on the offer of lookups, when you have time please.

I had an uncle, Henry Arthur (Harry) Howell b.1925 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. He emigrated to Australia, we think in the 1940s, maybe early 1950s, with a couple of friends, one was Ron Grosvenor, don't know the name of the other friend. We think they went to Adelaide - that's where they ended up.

Don't know what job Harry did at first, but he became an accountant, quite senior. Ron Grosvenor became a policeman, & he married a local girl, (assume born Australia); they had 1 child. Ron was killed on duty, (? date) and subsequently Harry Howell married his widow.

They had several children & I believe they lived in the Adelaide area.

Harry Howell died, I think on 6 January 1986.

Any info you have about any of the incidents I've mentioned I would be very grateful - sorry, it seems like a bit of a shopping list, but anything, even just the basic stuff would be a great help.

    Many thanks,

    Birmite

Joan you are a real treasure - thank you so much. The info you've given will keep me happily busy for quite a while I would think. Thanks also for the offer to look for Harry's headstone, but again, please don't let it detract from more urgent things - I'm just grateful for what you've done for me. Don't know if I can ever reciprocate, but if so, just post a note.

Hope you have a good christmas, too - guess a much warmer one than we shall have here,
