What a lovely name. Ha Ha. Phillip John McNamee gives his profession on the Census as Foreman -Shoe Maker. There is no profession for Marian. The address looks like Challeris Sq? Marian was born in Scotland about 1862. Phillip John McNamee was born in Ashton Under Lyme, Lancashire, England about
1865. Florrie was born 1887 Bradford, Yorkshire, England. Mary was born 1889 also Bradford Yorkshire. The other children were all born Newington, London, England Registration district:St Saviour Southwark

Hello Julie,
I have found some more information.. The Surname McNamee was mistranscribed on the 1851 and 1861 Census. Please let me know your thoughts on all of this. Your McNamee Ancestors came from Ireland. I have made some notes as I have gone over the Census for you. I need to find John which I feel is your link to all of this? Julie these Census start with 1841 then 1861 back to 1851.

This is the same family above for 1861. Philip is now a Widow but his profession is still shown as Sailor. Peter is down as being aged 20 years and gives his profession as Butcher. There is now a younger brother James aged 13 years. John aged 5 years from the 1841 Census I believe is your link to Philip John McNamee . This Philip profession Sailor, was your Philip John McNamee,s Grandfather. I,m sure of it. John is not on these Census so I will have another look for him later on. You will note Julie the surname was mistranscribed (McNamer )but the Census clearly state McNamee.

1851.. Again Surname mistranscribed and the ages are for sure out. The family are living in Worthington Square. Philip is still down as Sailor. Ann is down as Laundress. Thomas who is down as being age 12 years is doing the same profession as his Mother Ann was in 1841.Cotton Print. The surname on the Census has been gone over and changed. (McNamee)

This is me Marian...........wheyhey, I am so excited. All this information is fantastic.
It certainly looks cridble that Philip b 1811 is Philip John's great granfather. Therefore John b c1836 is the connection as you say.

Philip John McNamee was the son of John McNamee.
John McNamee was the son of Philip and Ann McNamee.
Phyllis McNamee was the Great Granddaughter of Philip and Ann. I will see what else I can uncover for you Julie on the McNamee,s before moving on to Coates.
