Kimberlynn you state Elizabeth was Johns first wife so he must have been very young when he married the first time possibly in his teens? In 1851 Sarah is 28 so in 1841 she was 18. I am just trying to gather all my info. What proof do you have that Elizabeth was the Mother of the oldest son born and when did Elizabeth die?

Kimberlynn Gosley Shull could be the name of the Road. Have you checked any of the old Genuki Maps out?

Hi Kimberely
there is a sephton family tree on ancestry (which i assume is not yours). they have edward born ormskirk with son john marrying Elizabeth Brown (son John Edward), then Sarah Leadbetter 04 Oct 1841 (children Ann, Edward, Elizabeth and Thomas) and then Mary Ann Wright, a widow formerly Bonham 28 Jan 1854(children Emma, Elizabeth, Frederick,Ester, Thomas, Emily and Alfred). Does this fit with your information. I asked for the 1951 census details becasue you mentioned sarah born northampton which didnt fit but i see she was born warrington. mary ann bonham/Wright was born northampton. Some of the chidlrens names are repeated so i assume the original ones may have died in infancy. they have a lot of information |

hi again! well--you have been busy, yes the family on ancestry is our lot! the edward you found cant be same as he was wed after john was born in 1819, i don't think that happened in those days, i found elizabeths death --elizabeth brown died 1840 warrington, cheshire, lancs, vol 20 page 635. their child (john edward) was only 2yrs old. my friend said gosley shul could be godly st, as the s,s look like d,s if you see what i mean? i don't know? yes, the two children died of the same name. i also noticed only today that on johns son edwards birth cert which i have, sephton was spelt in the old way of sefton, don't know if that could help or not! thanks for all your work much appreciated, k.

dont be too quick to rule out the marriage
yes it did happen a lot in those days - they just were often better at covering up- dont forget there wasnt the written records so much and no internet and if they said they were married people often just accepted it especialy if they moved around a bit. |
