Hi Jenny,
I am looking for the birth/baptism of Jane Dixon between 1837 and 1839 in Tynemouth. Her parents were John and Mary. She is the first child I have for this couple.
Hello Starlight. There are lots of Jane Dixon born in Tynemouth c 1837.
I have just looked on the census for 1841 and 1851 to determine what area of Tynemouth Jane was born. There is only one Jane with parents John and Jane.
I have found the following.
1841 census.
John age 40yrs. Occ. Glasshouse Labourer. B. Stannington.
Jane age 35yrs. b. Bothal.
Isabella age 20yrs. b. Molsdon.
Jane age 7yrs. b. East Coldside
Thomas age 5yrs. b. Mitford.
William age 3yrs. b. Tynemouth.
Taylor age 18 months. b. Seaton Sluice.
Esther age 4mths. b. Seaton Sluice.
All born Northumberland and living in Seaton Sluice, a little further north from Tynemouth.
I can only find the Christening of Taylor in Wesleyan Methodist Church North Shields. Taylor died in 1843.
1851 Census.
Jane is Jane Ann b. Mitford.
No further children born but a Son John b. 1829 East Coldside age 22yrs Occ. Mariner, is with them.
Next time I go to the Local Studies in North Shields I will see what I can find for you. If you would like a copy of the census send me a message with your email address.
Regards Jenny.
Well thats a good start. Just re read and its John and Mary. What a plonker I am. Sorry, will go and look again.
Thank you for your kind offer.
Could you see if you can find the death of the wife of Samuel Weatherhead,he was married to an Hannah and then I THINK to a Mary Wood
He was with Hannah on the 1841 census in Scotland with no children
On the 1851 he is a widower with 4 children the first born abt 1842, he was living at 48 Chapel St, Berwick Northumberland
Many Thanks
Sheila
Hello again Starlight. I shall have to go to the Local Studies Dept. in North Shields to look up Jane Dixon born to John and Mary. Hopefully this will be tomorrow or Thursday.
Do you have her on any census?
Jenny.
Hi Sheila. Hannah must have died between appearing on the 1841 and when Samuel married Mary in December 1841. I have looked through the complete BMD's on Ancestry between these dates and found no death.
I note that the children on the 1851 were born in Scotland. I would imagine Hannah died in Scotland.
I do not have access to any Scottish records, sorry.
Regards Jenny.
Many thanks for your time Jenny.
Its much appreciated.
Sheila
Hi Jenny
I am trying to find out the name of my granfather's father, not listed on his birth certificate.
I was hoping that parish baptism records might help so would be greatful for a look up.
My grandfather is Thomas Potter and he was born in June 1923 in Shiremoor. The family seem to have connections with the church in Earsdon.
I would be grateful for any look up in the church's parish records for Thomas's baptism.
Thanks
Gary
Hi Jenny
Dont know if you can help but I am looking for a marriage that took place between 1871 and 1881.
Edward Linghorn born 1847 in Clifton Bristol and
Sarah Hunter born 1851 in Tynemouth.
They both appear in the 1871 census living in Walsend and sometime between 1871 and 1881 they moved to East London. My Great Nan (Sarah's daughter) always said they got married in Jarrow. I've looked for both names but cant find anything.
Sarah's parents were William Hunter and Sarah Bagnall.
Can you help?
thanks
