Can any one tell me, about my grandfather alexander gillan, born county antrim 1880, 1882, possible , cullibachy, also my grandmother, mary anne getty or minnie anne getty born ballyclose county antrim 1884 thanking you, billy gillan. Ps they were married in scotland.

There’s a birth for Alexander GILLIN registered in Ballymena (which covers Cullybackey) that might be your ancestor. The birth was registered April – June 1883, Ballymena, Volume 1, page 116. You can obtain a photocopy of that birth cert from GRO Roscommon for €4. www.groireland.ie/

There was no sign of any Gillin/Gillan families in Cullybackey in the 1901 census.

I do not recognise Ballyclose as a place name in Co Antrim. The nearest I can find is Ballyclosh. What’s the source of your information?

Do you know when they both moved to Scotland?
