Hi
In a list of communicants in PRs I discovered this, and wondered what it means.
If it means Good Widow or Good Woman, Why would the virtuous Mrs Amies not be so denoted??

Possibly Goodwife, Mark?
"A courtesy title before the surname of a married woman not of noble birth" or the female head of a household.
Hello Mark
Your looking at the Communicants List,
definition of Communicant: (Christianity / Ecclesiastical Terms) Christianity a person who receives Communion
Is it some widows attend church more regularly than others, which may affect any Parish relief they may wish to claim in the future?

Thank you elsabels and Finbar.
Pretty much as I thought, then.
Isn't it infuriating.. I can read the Latin, but don't know the mother tongue.
I like the idea of the parish relief being the spur to get religion
