Default Matthew Conroy marriage Roscommon?

Looking for a marriage between Matthew Conroy and Mary Mc Cormick. The census says Roscommon Ireland for them both.

They have a son Bernard born Ireland c1847 and Annie c1851 born Ireland. The rest of the children were born in Tunstall Staffordshire between 1854 and 1864..I Cant find a marriage here so Im presuming they married in Ireland, maybe before 1847?

Any help would be great, thank you..

Hi Light,

Do you know if they were Protestants or Catholics? Civil registration for Protestants began in 1845, which might just be early enough, given Bernard's birth date. If they were Catholics, however, you'll need to look for a parish register, since they weren't included in civil registration until 1864, by which time your family were already in England. Tracking down the right parish (and possibly the right townland) may be difficult if all you know is the county.

My Irish ancestors were all Catholics from SW Cork (where nothing is online yet), and I don't what records are available for Co. Roscommon. You might want to try GENUKI's Roscommon page as a starting point, or just start Googling.

Good luck -

Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the advice..

I dont know what religion they were or anything about them. Irish ancestors scare me and the last 6 certs I have ordered have had all led to Ireland on different branches which has deflated me a little lol!
I have not researched their children yet and they had 6 which were born in Staffordshire so I suppose thats the next step in case it throws anything up.
I will look at the link you have added, thanks for that.

Thanks for your time.. Light,
