There was a Miller born December qtr in Radford Vol. 15 Page 579. No Christian name just Male.

Also found a Samuel born December qtr in Runcorn Vol. 19 Page 182. I believe Runcorn is in Cheshire. Don't know if this is close to Nottingham or not. There may have been a boundary change if they are close. Or he may have been registered in another district. I think from memory people sometimes had children baptised in another area if they thought the church was better.

this is the marriage reference for samuel marriage to sarah ann

Name:Samuel Miller :1870 Quarter of Registration:Jan-Feb-Mar District:Nottingham County:Nottinghamshire Volume:7b Page:273

your best way forward would be to but the marriage certificate (£7 from GRO) . this would give you samuels fathers name and occupation. according to the 1841 census there are 2 samuel millers born 1838 nottingham with different parents, so you would need to be sure you have the right one.

cant see the birth ref but his was 1838 and compulsory registration did not start unntil 1837 and some early 1838 births were not still formally registered .
