Default Pulling my hair out over this one HELP

I am quite new to this as some of you know by the stupid questions I have asked in the past. Although I have found friends family trees without too much trouble my own and my husbands give me so many problems.

I am looking for my grandparents Thomas James Quinn I have asked about him before but have some new information to add.

His Marriage certificate 29th July 1925 Liverpool Register office by licence
Thomas James Quinn ship steward age 23 years bachelor 89 Eden St Liverpool father James dock labourer.

To Carherine Ann Threadgold widow (she was born Ross) aged 33 15 Isis St Liverpool father John Henry Ross (deceased) omnibus driver.

Thomas James Quinn was killed ww2 assistant butcher on the M V Abosso torpedoed 29th Oct 1942.

I have been sent a document I think it is casualties and discharge giving his details as

Thomas James Quinn discharge No 236230 age 38 born Waterford wife Catherine 27 Oakleigh Liverpool 13 date signed agreement 16/6/1942.

Nationa Archives cat ref BT 395?1 medal listing of Quinn Thomas James date 2nd Jan 1904 image ref 75159/4810.

Now I know he was born in Ireland Waterford lived 27 Oakleigh Tuebrook Liverpool june 1942 ( that was the address I lived at with my grandmother)
His age? marriage certificate july 1925 says he is 23 which means he would have been born c 1902. His details with the merchant navy says he died oct 1942 aged 38 which means born c 1902. The National Archive medal listing has a date on it of 2nd Jan 1904
Would this be his date of birth?.

I know nothing of southern Ireland his father in 1925 was a dock labourer do they have docks in Waterford or maybe the whole family came to Liverpool.

I now have his discharge no the ship he sailed on I wonder how much information I can get from that I have heard of something that gives the records which can include photograph is that seamans pouches? and is the discharge number enough ?

Anybody know how I can trace him in Waterford? or does anybody have this family in their family tree? That would be too easy wouldnt it.

Nana kindly did a search for me Thomas Quinn Liverpool directories 1911 1938 nothing but I wonder who lived at 27 Oakleigh 1938?

I will buy the medal listing from the National Archive I dont know what that will show it only costs £3.50.

Please if you have any ideas let me know as I said I am pulling my hair out and I would look stupid bald.

Thank you for looking this up, I guess its back to the drawing board.

Maybe the next thing I should check is the Irish records.
