i hope someone can help me i am reserching my great grandmother and i am really stuck. i have tried everything.
this is what i have so far.
her name is Louisa Stimson she was born 20 april 1902 not really sure where but i think it was either in sussex or london.
she had 3 children from 1922 to 1928 out of wedlock. i know in 1925 she was living in a place called stonehouse in battle sussex and she worked in clarence house.
she then married a thomas alfred Gurr in 1935 in battle sussex he was alot older than she was he was born in 1868 in tenderton kent they had 3 more children .
louisa then died in may 1984.
i have her marriage certificate where there is a line through her fathers name. i also have her death certificate.
the problem i am having is getting her birth record there is no gro out there for her. i have tried different spelling variations of the surname and even tried ordering certificates with people with a different first name but nothing i am really at a loss as where to go next.
i know she had a brother called jim who i think was a bit younger than her he died either in swindon or aldershot. i have a photo of him in battle in sussex wearing a jacket with the initials GHS on it not sure if this is his real name which then could be george henry stimson or if it is a bussiness name. i cant find anything on him either they are a real mystery which is getting on my nerves now.
any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jason,

Are you sure of Louisa's date of birth. Families can be notoriously wrong on dates. Or she may have lied about her age not that uncommon.

I have found a Louisa Amelia A Stimson b June qtr 1904 Southwark vol 1d page 150. Also found a James Stimson b Sept. qtr 1908 in Southwark vol 1d page 136. Could the jacket that Jim is wearing be a hand me down. There is a George Henry Stimson b March qtr 1902 in Hamstead vol 1a page 632.

Found then on FreeBDM. Just a possibility.

hi Kate thanks for your reply, i have thought about the 1904 louisa. her marriage and death certificate seem to both give a 1902 birth. as far as jim goes the jacket could have been handed down to him or it could be his initials as under these initials is GM which i think could mean general manager not very sure though.i do know they are giving me a headache.
