Hi
The one certain way to prove CHarles father is to purchase his marriage certificate, think this may be the ref no: Mar Qtr 1854 Stockton Vol 10a Page 149 Charles Wimbles & Elizabeth Robinson There is a Charles listed on the 1841...but I am unsure if it the corect one...details are: Beedhams Court, St John Micklegate Yorkshire Isaac Whimbles 60 Shoe M Elizabeth Whimbles 35 Mary Whimbles 15 Sarah Whimbles 12 Charles Whimbles 10 Eliza Whimbles 8 Henry Whimbles 5 Joseph WIMBLES 1 All born in county Unfortunatley the 1841 doesnt give relationships I personally, would purchase the Marr Certificate! Good Luck Loz |

Charles Wimbles & Elizabeth Robinson Hi, Thanks for the reply. The above information seems to tie in with information that I have gathered over the last month or so that I have been trying to find my ancestors. I enquired some years ago to the Bradford Register Office for my grandfather's marriage certificate and they were very good in informing me that not only was his marriage cert there, but his birth cert and also my great grandfathers marriage cert, which had Charles's name on it. So I had managed to get back to 1832 in one swoop. I have never given the marriage cert of Charles a thought (I'm a noobie at this) I will now contact Stockton Registry office tomorrow if that is the place that I need to contact and I will post the results. Many thanks once more. ![]() |

Hi and thanks for the reply
I sent an email to the Tees Valley Indexes to query as to if this was Charles using this data; Search deaths - results for CHARLES WIMBLES 1864 to 1868 ResultYearForenameInitialRef NumberClick to contact11866CHARLESM-V-24-0-101Middlesbrough</B> I wanted to see if Elizabeth was mentioned on the certificate. I got back the reply that this could not be confirmed, as "The wifes name would only be mentioned if she registered the death...which she did not" Is this the same ref no? I have searched everywhere on the free sites and have never seen the burial records. Where is the best place to find these? Thanks again Stoooey |

Hi Stoooey
The death certificate reference is 2/1866 Stockton 10a 38 Charles Wimbles age 35 (which you use to order a certificate) The NBI (National Burials Index) is quite separate - it has some (patchy) burial records. It is not available on any free sites but is on CD and on familyhistoryonline which is a pay site (but reasonable). You can ask for a look-up on here though - someone could always help. Gillian |

Once again I must thank you both for the infos. I have not yet managed to get the marriage cert for Charles, as I have been so busy. I will phone the Stockton on Tees reg office tomorrow and see if I can buy on the phone.
It also looks like George could be the son of Charles, as the birth fits at abt 1859, according to my records, but as you state, some records seem very patchy on the Internet, for example,on one site Charles is recorded as living until 1901 and living in Leeds, whereas, marriage records of Isaac in 1884 state Charles as being deceased. They didn't make it easy for us did they ![]() |

By patchy I meant only some burial records are transcribed not that they are inaccurate (though there will be human error anywhere).
The Charles in Leeds 1901 could be a connection - but he is married to a Rose and born in 1835. There is a Charles Wimbles in York 1841 (age 12 parents George and Mary) as well as the one Lozzie found - you will be able to sort them out when you have that marriage certificate! Gillian |
