Default John Blake

Hi All:

We have a 2x Great Grandfather who was a Coastguard Captain in the mid 1800s, Essex and Sussex. He married Mary Elizabeth Watson in 1833, Margate. He appears in 1841 census and other than some children's births, leaves no other record until 1861 census in Broadwater and his death in 1862. Can anyone point us to possible Coastguard records? We have tried Archives and the new website. Thanks D.

Thanks Slizzy:
We have checked that site and had e-mails from Stan. There must have been some special housing for Coast Guards and their families that were not included in regular census. D.
