HI every one I am tryeing to find out about william greenwood born in bradford 1900 his father is fredrick but his mothers name as been hard to find as there is no birth certificate . if any one can help paulettex

I know you said he was born Jan 1900....was this a confirmed DoB?? I know I couldnt find a ref in BMD (although it's not 100%) and I couldnt find him on 1901

Do you know when he died? OR if he had been baptised the Parish Registers would be ideal to search...as by that time I'm sur they listed both parents

Lol you will find him eventually...these things are just sent to test us!

hi loz yes its a tricky one ,i have tryed parish register and births aithough he was found in marriages, 1922 he married my gran called ellen surridge at st josephs church in bradford. i suppose as you said his date of birth could be wrong.but we have always celebrated his birth as 14 jan 1900 he always said he was born the same year as the queen mother.also he told me that both his parents died when they were 38yrs old. but i havent come across this yet, fathers name is frederick on marriage lines but no mothers name on that.thanks paulettex

Do you know when William died? as if this was after 1969 then his date of birth will be listed

My Nan always celebrated her birthday on 6th March.....as she was approaching 60...and bus pass time..she sent for her birth certificate and she was born.....FIFTH March!!!!

Another more recent one...I worked with a guy and as his b'day was approaching we asked how old he was ...he said 37 next. A few days later we were talking about years of birth...he mentioned his and we all burst out laughing he was actually only 36 next b'day!!

Apparently his wife had always told him she was a year older than him.....so he believed what he was told!

lol I just been looking over the other posts and realised he died in 1985. Well the indexes do give his DoB as 14 Jan 1900...but if everyone believed that was true..thats whats recorded!

ANyways I've had another look and found this one:

William Greenwood

You could contact SOuthport and ask if parents are Fred and Margaret, the ones from 1901 Census !?!?!?

I checked for Greenwoods who died age 38 in Bradford up to 1920 and the only one which looked at all likely was -
Death Ellen Greenwood 1/1919 Bradford 9b 378 age 38
