Harriett Ackley was my Great Great Grandmother and she was born in 1830 where abouts unknown to me. Her Fathers name was Thomas Ackley and his profession stated on my Great Great Grandparents Marriage Cert for 1852 Greenwich reads as Ware House Clerk. In the 1841 Census there is a Harriett Ackley staying with the Boughton family in Camberwell Surrey and it also lists the name of a nine year old girl surname being Hershey. Thomas and Harriett Boughton maiden name Ackley were wealthy Stock Brokers and from the Census this Harriett was born in Loughborough Leicestershire. Harriett and Thomas married in 1814. There is also another Harriett Ackley born 1817 Loughborough and I dare say a connection to Harriett Boughton?
In the 1851 Census staying with the Boughton family is a Mary Ann Ackley Niece born in Bethnal Green. Harriett Ackley Servant on the 1841 Census along with the little Hershey girl aged nine years is not listed. I really dont know where to search and along with two other family members we are stumped over this one. My Great Great Grandmother died in 1864 aged 34 years in Aldershot. I do have a copy of her Death Cert. Also she cannot be found on the 1861 Census under her married name of McClelland Please can anyone help? Regards Marion |

Yes Slizzy I do. It was Robert. I have found my Great Great Grandfather with his second wife Ellen on the 1871 and 81 Census but nothing apart from what I have already posted is known about my Harriett. Please Slizzy do you think you can help me find my Great Great Grandmother and her Father Thomas?

Thankyou so very much Slizzy. So many have searched but come up with nothing. My Great Great Grandfather Robert McClelland was a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery and served on the Troop Ship The Himalaya but Harriett did not go with him at any time he went and served abroad. I have the Royal Artillery papers to support this. The thing that is most strange Slizzy is neither Harriet my Great Great Grandmother or Ellen 2nd wife can be found on the 1851/61 Census. Ellen can be found on the 1841,1871,1881 and nothing at all for my Harriett. I will for sure keep my fingers crossed and toes if it will help. Good Luck and Thankyou.

Thankyou again Slizzy. I have seen this one before and will keep my options open. All your finds I will forward through to my two other family members also on the search. There is also another Harriett Ackley born in Stoke On Trent but I dont believe she is mine. Saying that I dont really know as I dont know where my Harriett was born but I have made contact with this Harrietts family through another site and the party feels she is not one of the same. Bless you for your help as I sure do need it. Off to work for me shortly. Before I go Slizzy where is Tigermouth?
Bye for nowx |

Yes Slizzy my other famaily member found this one also. It just could very well be my Harriett? Theres that area again for Loughborough. These Ackley,s from Loughborough seemed for some reason to move to Surrey. I am wondering if we can tie Mary Ann Ackley born Bethnal Green in with these Ackley,s as she was staying with the Boughtons as Niece and like I stated Slizzyin a previous thread Harriett Boughton was born in Loughborough. Must go now and put my glad rags on for work.
