Default Echo Origins-40th Jubilee of Canals 'rebirth'. Learn about how your Ancesters worked

This week marks the 40th Anniversary of the passing of the 1968 Transport Act which opened up new life for the Nations decaying canal system.

For the first time the leisure potential of the canal network was recognised. Nowadays the Canals are being restored.

The canals are bustling - much as they were in the 19th Centuary when the Network was used for a different activity, Industry.
Now you can learn how your ancesters lived and worked.

WHERE TO LOOK

There is a vast resource on the internet to help discover how your ancesters lived and worked during the years of the Industrial Revolution.

Sites worth looking at include:
www.canals.com/resource.htm
www.canalmuseum.org.uk/collection/family-history.htm
www.virtualwaterways.co.uk/Waterways_Family_History_Sources.html
www.boatmen.org.uk/

If anyone would like to read the entire article look up www.liverpoolecho.co.uk in the Saturday echo go to Origins page.

Good luck,
Billy
