Hi all I found a recent copy of the Liverpool Echo dated the 4th October 08. Looking through the pages I came upon the Echo Origins -discovering your family History page.
The article's title - The Religious divide can halt search. The article is quite lengthy, but interesting. But just to give you a flavor the Author (Martin Rigby) discusses the problems of searching church records specifically the parish registers before 1837: These records cover marriages and baptisms in the Church of England, but what if they were Roman Catholics, Non-Conformists, Quakers, Baptist, Methodists and Congregationalists. Some of the sites are (pay per view) some of you may have already had site of them, however, here is the list www.bmdregisters.co.uk/ www.a2a.org.uk/ www.catholic-history.org.uk/cfhs/ www.familysearch.org Once on the above site click on the Liverpool &SW Lancs family history Society site. Other sites: www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/lprs There are a couple of other websites mentioned in the article, however I had some difficulties accessing them. But you may want to try them yourselves. www.quaker.org.uk http://archive.liverpool.gov.uk/ www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/home.htm I hope the above sites will be of use to you all?
