Hi ...lets hope I can help .... this is May 16th 1859 George Davies widower age 45, marrying Ann Powell Widow age 45. He is a collier and his father is David Davies who was a butcher.

Let me know if you think it's the right one

Hi There.. I really dont know.. I will try and investigate further.. Davies is such a hard name to trace..Well for me it is as I have hit many brick walls. My Great Grandfather Richard Davies was a Collier born in St Ives Cornwall but died in Westham.. His Father was a George Davies Sailor.. Thats as far back as I can go. My Great Grandfather Richard was born about 1851/2.. On one of the Census for my Great Grandfather it has a George Davies down as Lodger or it could have been visitor staying with him..If only I knew more. Do any of your Davies ancestors come from Westham?

Tell me about it....!! I have been searching for my George Davies' marriage for years and spent a fortune on certificates that have been wrong....As far as I know my Davies' started life in Herefordshire and then moved to Blaenavon in Monmouthshire where they stayed for the rest of their lives. You would think then it would be easy to find a marriage wouldn't you .......!!!!A lot of people at that time if they were miners moved around to where the work was ....a load of my ancestors moved to Nottingham and Sheffield.

Anyway happy hunting and if this certificate is your family let me know and I'll get it in the post to you
