Thread: Help please with the word filius

I have found a birth on lan-opc.org.uk for a relative and am wondering what the word filius means...

Thomas Rothwell Rothwell - filius of Petri Rothwell & Mariae
Born: 26 Sep 1809

Filius is Latin for son, therefore:
Thomas Rothwell Rothwell - SON of Petri Rothwell & Mariae

Old Parish Registers used Latin words.

Daughter in Latin is: Filia

Thanks slizzy.. it usually says "child of" so I did wonder if that was the case. I had read of Filius Flitwick (Character) from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone lol
