in the 1861 cencus seems to be the first time for the family it says mother margaret moorfield widow born 1827, i went on to the lancashire bmd and found the children ann born 1846 mothers name moorfield, henry 1848 mothers name moorfield,william born 1850 mothers name charnock, margaret born 1852 mothers name charnock, all there surnames are moorfield,can not find a marriage for the mother margaret,the family all born wigan/hindley.thank you for looking.

Can you find her in any later census'es either as Moorfield or Charnock? do you think she could have just taken his name - as in common law. What is her maiden name - she should hopefully be on the 1841 and 1851 census

I think I found her & her son William b 1850 on the 1871 census, she was age 54 still a widow and Son William age 20. I thought I may have found him married on the 1881 census but I couldn't see Margaret Do you know what her maiden name was? or that of her Husband? Perhaps she had died by 1881. Do you have a birth cert for ome of her children it will give her maiden name it may be a bit easier tolook then for a marriage

There is a death for a Margaret Moorfield age 52 June qr 1875. Chorley - this may be her. Do not pay to much attention to the ages people did not always get their ages right. It may pay you to look on a site like the Free BMD site for a ? moorfield death sometime after say her chikdren were born - or after the first two
