    Default hi. i'm lisa

    hello.

found your site a couple of days ago. think its brill.

have been doing my family tree basics since 2000, done it on a tight budget without having to fork out for many certificates, relying on the internet too much, but tried to find more than just names and dates.

still dont have the money to visit houses and graveyards but did organise a big family reunion to show the rest of the rellies what i had found. i asked them all to bring a black and white photo with them and it was a great success.

just wanted to say this site is great because sometimes when you are looking for a needle in a haystack as big as geneology - its nice to be able to ask advice or for others to help and my motto has to be that two people looking for a needle will find it quicker. sometimes i cant see it for looking !

anyway a big hello from me to all you .

    have a great day xxxx

p.s researching the names: Haley, Mansell, Wacey, Lea, Lathwell, Pantling, Rudelhoff, Farley and Fentiman amongst others... and my husbands line Byrne from wicklow and Logan from scotland.

Hi Lisa, Welcome to AA, what an excellent way of getting all your family around to tell them of their ancestry. I bet they was fascinated by family history. Good Luck with the rest of your research. Yes this is the best site for Genealogy, I've had some help with my ancestors from members of this forum to which I am eternally grateful or I wouldn't have got as far as I have now.

    hi everyone.

just wanted to mention the best thing about the family reunion was that the 'family had no idea what extent i was researching - they all just though i was nuts !. i invited 25 strangers to my house and had a few other that i had met. we coincided that dates with when one of my dads cousins was visiting the uk from australia. when they arrived i had a roll of lining paper pinned accross my dining room wall with a tree on, i had attached as many photos as i could to put faces to the names. it was a great talking point and the older relations added comments all over it, bits and pieces they remembered. i scanned all the photos they brought with them and we added them while they were here. I added loads of cousins and things that i did not have an filled in the gaps between 1900 and now. It was great for leads that i have since followed up.
