    Default Hi

    Hi Everyone,

    I am Pips.

I joined in December, the 23Rd., as I noticed a message about my family interest and found a cousin, Ollie.

I haven't spent a lot of time here, until now, but intend to be here a lot more.

I am blind, so please be patient with me, I will try and fit in, but it may take me a little more time than others.

I have tried and am trying other sites, but finding one to suit my individual needs, is proving a little difficult.

This site, has the facility, for me to enlarge the font size, enabling me to type, in lower case and see what I am typing at the same time !! Brilliant.

I am going to spend some time, on the tree maker and see how I get on with that.

    Nice to meet you all.

    Pips xx

PS.......Have been in the Quiz Room, too slow in there, have to use my magnifier to read the fonts and you only get 8 secs to answer !! lol I had a laugh, if nothing else !

Hello PIPS and welcome to AA. Nice to know that you are finding the site accessible - Jon has worked hard on that. Good luck with your research - just ask for any help you need.

    Gillian

PS What colour do you find easiest to read?

    Hi Gillian,

    You have been successful.

I have just looked at the tree maker and I am quite impressed, by what I have seen.

Colours and tones do make a difference, but once again, it is an individual thing, relative to the amount of 'visual disability'.

For me, to be able to see what I am typing, as I do it, is brilliant. My Oh, will be pleased too, he won't have tp spens so much time watching it !!! lol.

If you are 'open' to feedback, I am happy to oblige.

    Pips xx

    Hi Pips,

A very warm welcome to Ancestry Aid.

I will be going away shortly but when I return later in the year the site is going to undergo a face lift. One of the intentions of this face lift is to improve the colour scheme and also improve the site for members like yourself.

I would gratefully accept any comments from you on ways to improve the usage of the site for you. Your comments are very important to me and i'm sure other members will vouch for me when I say that I DO action ideas from other members.

Please PM me with any suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your time with us.

    Kindest regards.

    Hi Jon,

My first request / suggestion, would be, (for me personally), bolder print on the tabs at the top of the page. this would make a great difference. I use a hand magnifier at present to read the tab labels. ( I don't know, if I am using the correct 'terminology', here ).

But this might not be for others, as I have learnt in the past, what suits one, doesn't suit everyone.

I will contact you, Jon and thank you.
