Thread: New member from California, USA

Hi, I am looking for any information regarding my Firth family from Selby, Yorkshire. My great grandmother, Anne Elizabeth Firth, born 30 April 1853 (1850?) was from Selby or very near to Selby. The birth place is from her 1871 Census data (she was living in Chorlton-upon-Medlock, now part of Manchester, Lancashire), family oral history and her death notice. I have been unable to find any record of her birth or family in the civil registry. The Firth/Werners have a very interesting family history. Anne moved to Colorado, USA in 1873 with her German born husband, but naturalized British citizen, Maximilian Werner. The family raised cattle and farmed. In addition, Anne raised a BUNCH of kids, while Max mined for silver, provided medical help to the local Ute indian tribe and served in the Colorado state legistature. I have lots of data about the family after they arrive in the USA, and little to no information regarding their lives in England. I plan to post a request in the Look Up Forum for Anne in the 1861 Census.
