Thread: hello all

I'm new to forums, so here goes. I'm looking for my ancestors, they are the parents of alexander emmott born c.1841 in thornton, yorkshire. alexander was my great great grandfather, but he does not crop up on census until 1881. he married in 1864 in Oldham, lancs. on marrige cert his fathers name is robert emmott, but i cannot find this person in my searches. can anybody help. yorkist
