    Hello brushwood,
    Welcome to Ancestry Aid.
I am sure someone on here will find him for you.
Have you got him on the other censuses.... 1891 and 1901?
Was he the son of Elizabeth and had quite a few siblings?
And in 1901 he was a waiter at the Telegraph place at Porthcurno. That place is a museum now. Well worth a visit
Porthcurno is the most beautiful bay in Cornwall.
From there they laid the cables to Us under the sea.

    Hi
    Welcome to Ancestry Aid.

    Marriages Mar 1903
Harvey Catherine Thomas Penzance 5c 361
Pope James Edward Penzance 5c 361 Occupation Waiter Eastern Telegraph
Residing at Clifford Cottage St Levan Cornwall

    Births Dec 1906
    Pope Kathleen Penzance 5c 215
    Births Jun 1909
POPE James Eric Penzance 5c 221

There was a third child who died in infancy. The name is not recorded on 1911, but by a process of deduction I would suggest it is:
    Births Mar 1904
POPE James Auldred Penzance 5c 227
    Deaths Mar 1905
    POPE James Auldred 1 Penzance 5c 213

The only way to confirm this would be to purchase the birth cert.

    Regards

    Brian

    Hi Brushwood.

The 1911 original shows James as a Waiter in the Mess of Eastern Telegraph. He was born in St Breage. I have looked an cannot find a Richard born between 1911 and 1913 in penzance. Where did you find richard, or what is the connection? This is James Pope born in St Breage living in penzance.

    Brushwood,
In the 1901 census your James Edward Pope, born Breague in 1879 was a waiter aged 22 in Porthcurno in the Telegraph place, unmarried.. There were many young 17/18 yr old telegraphists and a few young women.

He is on the 1891 census( RG12/1842/77 page 6) for Breague aged 12 , a scholar with father John Pope 38, a tin miner and mother Elizabeth aged 40 ,brothers John Harris Pope18, Joseph Urben Pope aged 16 both are tin miners., Eliza bessie aged 10, Fanny M aged 8, Effie Jewell Pope age 6 and Laura Eva Pope age4 living in Breague. All were born in Breague.

    In 1901 census,

    Rg13, 2236, folio65 page 16

the family were still living in Kennegie, Breague ,
    John Pope, tin miner,
    Elizabeth Pope wife
    Effie J Pope daughter 16,
    Laura E Pope, 14
    Lillian A Pope aged 7
All born Breague(which is in the registration district for HELSTON)

There was another James Pope born Breague/(Marazion in one census). He is aged 8 living with aunt Mary Pope in 1891 and in 1901 is in Illogan Redruth still with his aunt and he is aged 17.
    So which is yours?

How do you know about Richard? Do you have his birth/death details.
There is the death of a Richard Frederick Pope born 20th April 1914 who dies in Jan/Feb/Mar 1972 in Penzance aged 57 . 7a,236 but there is also the birth of a Richard Frederick Pope born in Helston Cornwall in 1914.whose mother's maiden name is Pope and who dies in Penzance.
This may be worth noting down because he may prove to be a relation of sorts.
