Hello blackcat,
Good to meet you.
We all were beginners once so anything you want to know just ask.
You have just started family history and believe me it becomes utterly absorbing.
You start with what you know. Begin with parents then grandparents. Check their births and marriages and then go a step further back to your great grandparents but sometimes things are not straightforward. You may need to buy a marriage certificate or two. We will show you how this is done.
But first just tell us what you have already found out and what you wnat to know. dates and places are a help .
Good Luck with your research
Lola

Hello Blackcat,
Welcome to the friendliest site on the net. I have only been a member here for a short time, and I have managed to solve a few family "mysteries" with their help.
As to what to do now. I have found that if you keep all your info handy, perhaps in a file or folder so that it is always there to refer to. I have also learnt to write down useful websites in a notebook (lost all my bookmarks when the computer crashed) and had to tediously try and find them all again, time consuming and frustrating. I also print out info that may not appear to be what you are looking for, but later on might just fit into the puzzle somewhere. I try not to store too much on the computer in case of disaster. You can also find a site that will allow you to build your tree as you go along, some of them also have a facility to print out your tree.
Above all have fun!!!!!!
