I am a descendant of Maria Pawle daughter of Dr James Pawle and Lady Jemima Bacon. Any other descendants of James and Jemima out there?

What a fascinating family you are descend from. Have you Googled Dr James Pawle? When did the family migrate from South Africa to Australia? Anyway, if you post your questions, with as much as you know, I am sure someone will add to you knowledge.

As far as I know I am the only family member settled in Australia. My children moved to Australia in 2003 and I settled here with them a year ago after my husband passed away.
According to the family, Dr pawle was a orphan, adopted by a aristocratic family of Middlesex where he apparently met Lady Jemima. They eloped and Jemima was disowned by her parents, her parents was staunch Calvinists and she married an Anglican and commoner.

They had 5 children. Henry (who died at a young age) James Pawle, Jemima, Julia and my great grandmother Maria.
Jemima Guest (nee Pawle) was born mid-ocean on board the "La Belle Alliance"
Lady Jemima drowned at George Town aged 46 years. Dr Pawle became the first medical practitioner in Bathurst, distric surgeon of George Town,he was appointed Justice of Peace in George Town and later Justice of peace for Oudtshoorn.

Birth years tend to be the problem with our information. We know that Dr Pawle was born 1790 in Middelsex England, but not the birth year of Lady Jemima. According to the family she was the daughter of Lord Stephen Bacon and a Lady Martha. According to the family records she was a grand daughter or great grand daughter of Sir Francis Bacon by his marriage to Jemima Jennings late in his years. I tried to google that information but no joy. Hopefully through you I would be able to sort this out.
