    Default Hi Everyone

My name is Kerry and I live in Liverpool. I have been a member for a while now but I only pop on here occasionally. I have now decided to introduce myself formally as I intend to spend more time sorting out my family research papers which consist of handwritten scribbles in my tatty old notebook and endless pieces of paper with dates etc. printed off my computer!....................I was shocked to receive a cancer diagnosis last January but after chemo, radiotherapy, surgery and more chemo I was given the all clear and do not go back until September! It certainly focuses the mind and puts things into perspective! So you see I will have more time to try and put some semblance of order to my research and maybe even create a proper family tree!! I certainly look forward to trying to solve some of my brickwalls with your help hopefully, namely my paternal great grandfather who came from Freetown, Sierra Leone to Liverpool in the early 1900's and is on the 1911 census and that is it!!! Oh well, these things are sent to try us so they say, onwards and upwards.......A big Hello to you all

Hello Kerry. Welcome to AA. Good luck with your family tree. I am a great one for writing things on bits of paper. Then I usually lose them or end up throwing them away because I have forgotten what they are. So now is the time for a proper tree. Sorry about your scare., How right you are aboiut putting things in perspective.

    Hi Kerry,

A warm welcome to AA, and I hope you enjoy your time with us. Post your research queries on the relevant forum and we shall try our best to help.

Gosh Kerry, sounds like you had an awful scare; I'm so pleased to hear you now have the all clear. You are clearly a cheerful person and I'm sure that helped you through the tough times. But that's all behind you now and you appear to be a positive person; positivity combined with cheerfulness makes you very strong, good on you girl, you won't be defeated either by illness or brick walls.

Looking forward to seeing you around the boards. Happy hunting.

Hello pejay, thankyou for your warm welcome. I am so glad that I'm not the only one who uses the first available bit of paper to scribble my findings on! A proper family tree is definately my next course of action It really does put things into perspective pejay, I feel as though I have just been through some kind of whirlwind nightmare and emerged from it on the other side thinking "that was pretty scarey!" I am determined to put all my family research into order so that not only my children can understand it but I can! I look forward to chatting with you on this wonderful site, thanks again for your good wishes

Hello Chris, thankyou for your warm welcome. I am glad that you too scribble things down on bits of paper! Even though I have been delving into my family history for a while, I certainly don't have the expertise that you guys have. I tend to start researching a particular family member and then become daunted and overwhelmed by all the dates, names and relationship to the rest of my family! That is when I usually give up and take a break, sometimes for months!! I do always go back though, batteries recharged, determined to sort out this complex, wonderful, colourful jigsaw puzzle that is my family I look forward to many more conversations, maybe even about family history!

Hello slizzy, what a lovely warm welcome, thankyou so much You are so right, I have tried to remain positive throughout all of this even though my poor family and friends have seemingly gone to pieces, positivity is a definate plus!! As you say that is all behind me now hopefully so I won't bore you with the details As you will probably gather, I am a night owl, I think that one of the side effects of my treatment is insomnia! I look forward to speaking to you on the boards and I would just like to thank you again for your lovely warm welcome and kind positive words, it means a lot to me!
