Thread: Ellis Family

Hello,
My name is Stephen Ellis. I have traced my ancestors back to 1764 in a small village called Grove, East Retford, Nottinghamshire. I have also found a Richard Ellis, yeoman, living in Grove in 1627. This last find has yet to be confirmed as belonging to my family.
The family later moved to Sutton-Cum-Lound and, in the 1800s, Sheffield. My father left Sheffield in 1945 and I was born in Leigh, Lancashire.
I know this is a long shot but if anyone has come accross any Ellis's from Nottinghamshire, I would be grateful for the information.
