Hi - just joined so a bit rusty on how this forum works

Hi Everyone just joined and would really appreciate some help, guidance as I am still a beginner when it comes to this. My search is for the "Tate" family. I did google it hence the reason I am on here it brought up a Janine in Australia who shares the same family name - I believe James Thomas Bowes Clarkson Tate was her Great grandfather. I also believe there was some great information for someone called Dave, but I can not longer find the thread (sorry silver surfers like myself are a bit slow on the uptake) who said Thomas C Tate was his second great grandfather - he was my grandfather and Richard Tate my 2nd great grandfather (Martha Bowes Clarkson my 2nd great grandmother). One piece of information that was posted related to a census from the N Riding of Yorkshire Pauper Lunitic Asylum in 1881. I can't seem to track down the census - any suggestions as to what I need to key to view it online would be a fantastic help. I do have some bits without yet applying for birth certificates etc so will happily share any information I have.

Hi Digplot,
Click on Advanced Search (top right of page)
In the search box tick posts,
second box enter Tate
third box drop down menu select 1 year
Click search now.
This should bring up a list of all posts containing Tate.
Hope that helps.

Don, has the right link added some info for you from further research have more details about the children of these people, you just found a relative 8) I am descended from Richards son Thomas Clarkson Tate
