    Default Hello, another newbie

Hiya, I'm Sue and have recently joined ancestry aid. I'm 58 and living in Cambridgeshire though originally from Leeds, Yorkshire. Also lived for 20 years in Hertfordshire.

I'm doing my daughter in law's family history and they were gypsies so I'm struggling. The name is Brinkley and they were living in Herts and Middx.

Also doing my husband's family, fascinating! They were called Upright. They performed in the music halls and Grandad was either adopted or given to another family so we have their name.

Doing my own family too, Beresford, Yorkshire and Lancashire, Ellis, Leeds and we have Gelder and Brears in Lincs.

    Best wishes,

    Sue

Thank you everyone for your welcome and thank you Marion. I started to my dil's tree about a year ago and got frustrated with it all and went off and did my husband's family - who were very interesting! - but now I want to get back to 'Tre's tree' (Theresa) so it's fantastic to find forums with romany sections. Just haven't seen anyone mention the name Brinkley yet but I know they married into other gypsy families whose names I have seen mentioned. My dil's Mum and Dad both died when they were quite young and she doesn't know much about the family at all. Mum was from Ireland so I have a bit of a task!

    Have a lovely day too.

Sue, Why dont you go to the forums and look for the relevant board and submit your names and see what we can find for you..I must say though Irish Ancestors can be so hard to track down and sometimes impossible..We are here to help when you are ready to start your searching..
    Have a nice day Sue.

    Hi Marion,
I should do shouldn't I. I get a bit confused on forums and end up posting in the wrong place, I'm hopeless! I'm not too bothered about finding the Irish ones (but can add their names) but am really interested in the Romany part of my dil's family. I need to have a proper long look at the forum, I'm too easily side-tracked and end up wandering off doing other things on my computer!

Thank you for your help. I'm trying to do a bit of scrapbooking today too but not good at that either LOL.
