    Smile Barnsley and Ireland research Davis_Davies

    Hi,
    My name is Bob and my roots are in Yorkshire. Traced to Barnsley in 1844. Two brothers Thomas b1798 and Joshua Davis b1810 both linen weavers working in Barnsley. Both born in Ireland(somewhere! - help please!) and came to Yorkshire before 1844. Both families settled in Yorkshire.
    Trying to find out where in Ireland the family came from. Possible father, Fred Davis b1776.

    Hi Bob and welcome to Ancestry Aid. My Ancestors were Davies as well but they came from Cornwall and Westham..You never know somewhere we might find a connection..When you are ready to start your search just click on the forum at the top of this page and you will then be directed to our boards where you can make your post..

    Re finding where your ancestors came from in Ireland is a common problem, and not very easy to solve. Try checking every census entry. Though usually the place of birth is given as just Ireland, occasionally something more specific is put down; search for wills for either of the brothers in case they made bequests to relatives still in Ireland.
