Thread: New arrival from South Yorkshire

Hello to all

I did subscribe here some while ago, but am now finding that I have a bit of time for a short period. I shall be posting my interests in various surnames, locations and the like. I hope that there may be some common interest somewhere, with someone, and I guess that will only be discovered by asking.

I am not new to family history as I having been working on it since about 1996 when my daughter started asking questions. I am by training and inclination an historical geographer and a social historian, and am happy to assist others on questions relating to those areas that I know about.

The areas that I am specifically interested in are:
Orchard, in Potterne, Etchilhampton, Milton Lilbourne, Wexcombe and Oxenwood in Wiltshire
Underwood in Potterne, Wiltshire
Gingell in Melksham, Seend, Rowde, Bromham and area, Wiltshire (also Long, Flowers and others)
Taylor in Marks Tey, Elmstead, Colchester in Essex and also Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Pleasance in Soham, Barnwell -Cambridge, Burwell, Cambridgeshire (also Taylor, Norman and others in Soham, Stow cum Quy, Isleham and Ely in Cambridgeshire)
Fletcher, in St Maryebone, St Pancras and elsewhere in Middlesex, also in Lambeth, Camberwell and elsewhere in Surrey - all later in the County of London, also in Surrey and Warwick for short periods.
Morgan, in Newport and Risca area of Monmouthshire (Gwent) and also in Silvis and elsewhere in Mercer and Rock Island counties in the state of Illinois, USA
Tickner, in Hawkhurst and area, Kent and also in Etchingham, Sussex
and for my wife's side:
Auty in the Morley/Dewsbury area of the old West Riding of Yorkshire now West Yorkshire (also Davies)
Dixon in the Wakefield and Morley areas of West Yorkshire (also Garlick)
Crumpton, in the West Bromwich area including Oldbury, Halesowen, Dudley, (crossing the borders of the traditional counties of Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire in today's West Midlands (and Smith in Morley, West Riding)

It seems that I am in danger writing a novel here, so I shall shut up and stop.
