    Default Hello

    Hi Everybody,
My name is Bob Watts, I am now retired and trying to trace my family tree. With the research done to date I come from a long line of Durham coal miners. unfortunately owing to a few family rifts throughout the years I have been working from scratch as there has not been a lot of information passed down to me. However uncovering the skeletons in the cupoards only makes it more interesting, but costly as information obtained so far is in certificate form from record offices, and although not cheap is probably the most reliable scource. Like others no doubt I have had to do the usual detective work, but I have still struck brick walls.
    Good hunting to all.

    Hi Don,
Thanks for the welcome, I am sure that I am not alone attempting to find my way about the site in general. Or attempting to find elusive ancestors, however I will persevere with my hunt and try to leave some kind of history for interested members of my family.

Hello Bob welcome to AA, good hunting to you too. Yes it can be an expensive business I have some ancestors from Northumberland - with common names unfortunately.

    Thank You Everyone,
For your warm welcome. I am quite sure with your offers of support and help in this project, that I shall achieve my goal in breaking down the barriers. My main concern is that at certain points of my research I will have to enter the world of parish records, having got to grips with 1837 BMDs to obtain my information I now have to tread into unknown territory ! But I suppose the old saying nothing ventured nothing gained springs to mind.
