My name is Dot and I live in a small suburb called waterfall in South Africa. I`m new to family history and enjoying it although I`ve hit a brick wall on one ancestor but that`s part of the fun is in the detective work.

Hi Dot,
Welcome to Ancestry Aid and good luck with your research.
Welcome Dot,
You are right about the detective work. My partner of 2yrs and his family ended up in care 50yrs ago due to the death of his mother and the inability of his dad in looking after 5 children. My partners brother drowned when swimming at 14yrs while in care and his oldest sister left the home they were in and he hadn't seen her for 50 yrs. I did some detective work using Scotlands People, Ancestry.co.uk and the BT phone book and found her after 4 months. They have now been re- united for 16 months and I feel privileged that I was the person to find her. So carry on with the detective work it sometime's pays off.
Hi Dot Welcome to a great site .Happy hunting.
