Hi everyone,
I like sites where everyone helps everyone else. I live in Leeds and have just started researching three family trees (probably a fourth) all from grand parents.
They are the McGraths who mostly live in the North West of England but are descendants of John and Mary McGrath who lived in Cheadle. John was from Mitchelstown in Cork and trained as a GP. Mary was born Mary Elizabeth Miller and although born in Bradford her parents were both Irish and her father was originally in the army before retiring to be a shoe/boot maker in Sancton in Yorkshire.
There are also the Breens (and Armstrongs) from Omagh in Tyrone. They were farmers and married a variety of Armstrongs, Moffats and Alexanders. I don't know so much about them at the moment.
Finally, there are the Goftons who recently dispersed from Liverpool but originate from Tynemouth in Northumberland. I know the name of my great grandfather Thomas Dutton Gofton and I am trying to trace his parents.
I use phpgedview on my website to keep track of everything.
Look forward to any help and helping others.
Paul
