Thread: Hi all

Joined a while back but not sure I ever posted! I'm Katie, aged 30, and I live in NE Wales, although I was born in England (tho I spent all my compulsory school years in Wales and studied Welsh to A-level). I've been into genealogy since my early teens, but have only seriously been looking into my tree for the last year or so. I still feel like a newbie tho as I am yet to progress any of my lines back past the start of compulsory Civil Registration.



My maternal grandmother's family seem to mostly be centered around Neath, in Glamorgan, but have not had much luck with them as I think my great-grandparents on that line didn't marry or have children until 1912 (roll on 2021!); my maternal grandfather's family have moved down the country from Yorkshire to Notts to Bedfordshire to Sussex; my paternal grandmother's family came from Ireland via Glasgow to County Durham, and my paternal grandfather's line came the opposite way to my maternal grandfather - Notts to Derbyshire to Yorkshire.
