Thread: Greetings from soggy North Devon, England!

What a great site this appears to be! I currently live in North Devon having moved from Reading 15 years ago. I've got 2 little children, who I am supposed to be looking after, and since becoming a dad I have become quite addicted to family history.



My own dad's side of the family are the Phillips family, who mainly come from the Nettlebed area near Henley and a lot of them were carpenters or in the building industry. His mother's family are from Malmesbury and had a bacon curing business, Adye and Hinwood, at the beginning of the last century.



My mum's family are Griffins from Hopwas and Howards from Sussex. Her father was an Ison - he vanished 50 years ago and I have just made contact with my step uncle who has been living an hour and a half from me for the last 40 years wthout us knowing!



We have been locating lots of the family graves, but obviously that is easier when you can visit the cemeteries in question. I have records of burials in Berkshire if anyone needs me to look a burial up.
