My name is Karen, from Canada.
I am searching my British ties who ended up in Canada.
My first maternal line is Isbister from Orkney. My line ended up in Ontario, but others ended up in the western provinces and the northern territories with the Hudson Bay Company. I would be interested in hearing from other Isbister researchers with Orkney-Canadian ties.
My other maternal lines are Spiers, Pearson, Arnold, Cunningham and Corbett who all ended up in Simcoe County, Ontario. We believe they originated in Co. Monaghan prior to 1851 and probably immigrated together. These families have intermarried a LOT.
My paternal lines start with William Henry Graham who was born in IReland in 1784. NO idea where. He ended up in Prince Edward County Ontario.
Next is John Percy (or Pearson) Douglas who immigrated to Northumberland County, Ontario prior to 1851. My father insists he was born in Scotland but other family researchers think he was born in Ireland.
And last but far from least is my children's paternal line. That would be Lamond, MacDonald, Ross, Callaghan who all immigrated to INDIA from Scotland and Ireland (Callaghan) and eventually to Canada and the US.
Some of the Ross family might have gone back to England but we don't have ANY names verified. Possibly a David Ross who was born late 1800s or early 1900. I have two possible sisters, Esme and Dorothy Mary.
