My name is Rosemary, from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.
I am seeking information/whereabouts of John Ronald "Ronnie" Dixon, born July 17 1924, Wombwell, Yorkshire, UK. Has one son, John Henry Geoffrey Dixon (b. April 12 1946, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland). Served as a rear gunner in the RAF "Iroquois" Squadron No.431. Decorated with DFC silver cross and "caterpillar" parachutist pin. Served from approx 1942 - 1944, 34 missions over Europe. Ronnie left his wife (Pat?) and son, departing from Southampton, UK, June 22 1950 on the Edinburgh Castle III bound for Cape Town, South Africa. Wife and son have not heard from him in 59 years. Last correspondence with his UK relatives in 1981 from South Africa, exact location unknown. Ronnie would be 86 years old. No death/burial records found to date, so I'm operating on the assumption he is still alive. His now-63-year-old son, John Dixon, now living in Canada, fervently hopes to contact and ideally reunite with his father as soon as possible. Anyone who has ANY information is kindly asked to email me. Many thanks, in advance...
Rosemary
